GHGT Conferences
The Greenhouse Gas Control Technologies (GHGT)
conference series was formed in 1997 following the merger of the
earlier series of ICCDR and the Greenhouse Gas: Mitigation options
conference. The IEA Greenhouse Gas R&D programme (IEA GHG)
is the guardian of the conference series. The GHGT conferences
are held every two years in IEA GHG’s member countries.
The conference series rotates between, North America, Europe and
Asia. The conferences held to date are listed below. Click on
them for information on how to order a copy of their proceedings:
• GHGT-4,
Interlaken, Switzerland 1998.
• GHGT-5,
Cairns, Australia, 2000.
• GHGT-6, Kyoto, Japan, 2002 - no longer available.
• GHGT-7, Vancouver, Canada, 2004 - contact IEA GHG.
• GHGT-8, Trondheim,
Norway, 2006
The GHGT conference series has established itself
as the principal international conference on greenhouse mitigation
technologies. The last conference (GHGT-8)
was the largest held to date, attracting over 950 delegates. As
at previous conferences there was considerable interest in the
topic of CO2 capture and storage. The
GHGT conference series has become a focal point for international
research on CO2 capture and storage.
Interest in the topic of CO2 capture
and storage has grown considerably in recent years, as has research
funding which is reflected in the large number of papers presented
at this conference on the topic.
GHGT-9 is to be held 16 - 20 November 2008 at
the Omni Shoreham Hotel, Washington DC.
